Ok, so it took me 4 months to notice this: the iPod sleep timer!

From the main menu:

• Extras
• Clock
  • Create a Time Zone Clock for your area
  • Select it
  • Sleep Timer
  • Select 15,30,60,90,120

Great for napping!
